What Is the Dime Game in DBT?

The Dime Game is a decision-making tool from the Interpersonal Effectiveness module of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan. It helps you decide how strongly to ask for something or say no by weighing your goals, values, rights, relationships, and self-respect.

In traditional DBT groups, you’d place a dime for each “yes” or “no” to calculate how assertive to be. But let’s face it, nobody carries dimes anymore. So I built an interactive online version of the Dime Game, designed to be easy, accessible, and therapist-approved.
